“As a rule, it is not easy to identify a general trend or new fashion in interiors that appears every year at the Milan Furniture Salon: such trends are multidirectional! – a lot, and they seem to cancel each other out. The famous ISaloni exhibition of 2016 – Milan Furniture Salon, however, provides a little more food for those who like to structure and systematize interior vectors, although here the factories have different paths: some develop already existing collections.

For example, at the Desalto factory, the brutal Clay table from designer Mark Krusen “gave birth” to a cheerful brood of Mini Clay tables. Other furniture companies, along with additions to new collections, are actively introducing absolute new items, like the Gallotti&Radice brand.

  There has been a retreat from varnished multi-colored surfaces towards natural wood, both traditional and unusual finishes and species: sukupira at Armani/Dada, “graphite oak” at Molteni&C, etc.

  In kitchens, a decisive and, apparently, final turn to high-tech is obvious – in materials, equipment, functionality. In general, the modern kitchen is increasingly balancing on the line between a laboratory for cooking and a living space – a living room.

  Examples of this: the VVD kitchen model designed by Vincent Van Duysen for Dada, where in his first “kitchen” experience the Flemish designer plays on contrasts: includes elements of different thicknesses, a massive stone sink.

The Dada company presented a new CORNER (!) version of the Tivali kitchen, with fully closing facades: this version is in great demand on the market.

  For the new look of its collections of furniture and accessories, the Besana factory chose rhythmic “origami” geometry. 

The Arca factory, a manufacturer of kitchen furniture, in the new version of the Champagne kitchen has opted for radiant cleanliness of facades, smooth lines and additional elements (counter).”
