“And the Silk Belt Falls…”: A Solo Exhibition by Elena Shlenkina

As the head of the representative offices of Italian interior design brands in many cities across Russia and neighboring countries, Elena Shlyonkina has created a project of truly international scale, as the art of embroidery is one of the oldest forms of handicraft, easily considered a tradition in most countries around the world.

Elena Shlyonkina’s unique project allows us to see modern women not only as successful entrepreneurs but also as talented craftswomen whose hearts are filled with inspiration and a desire to create beauty.

The exhibition, curated by renowned conceptual artist Evgeny Grinevich, features Elena Shlyonkina’s finest works, created with love and demonstrating the endless possibilities of embroidery. Silk and linen, a variety of embroidery techniques, the master’s skillful hands and endless patience… And here we have true masterpieces!

“I was the eldest of five siblings, and my favorite fairy tale as a child was undoubtedly Cinderella.” “When I was embroidering my first pieces, I dreamed a lot and imagined not only beautiful dresses but also luxurious palaces where I would shine in these gowns at balls—thus began my first business creating palace interiors. Even now, as an adult, I continue to do needlework and embroidery, as it allows me to still indulge in my dreams and be that same naive, little girl,” shared Elena Shlenkina.
